The scheduled board examinations for students in grades 5, 8, and 9 have been postponed

The Karnataka government's board examinations for students in grades 5, 8, and 9 have been postponed following an order from the Supreme Court. This decision comes after a halt was placed on the exams by the division bench until further determination. Notably, this marks the second instance of the exams being postponed.

The Supreme Court's directive was in response to appeals lodged by private school organizations and concerned parents. These appeals contested an interim ruling issued by a division bench of the Karnataka High Court on March 7. The interim order suspended a previous judgment from a single bench, which had invalidated the government's decision to conduct board exams for Classes 5, 8, 9, and 11.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court overturned the interim order of the High Court division bench and urged prompt resolution of the main appeals. Given that examinations for Class 11 have already concluded, the intervention by the Supreme Court effectively suspends ongoing exams for Classes 5, 8, and 9 in schools affiliated with the State Board.
